## Understanding the Term

### What pre-shrinking actually involves.

Pre-shrinking isn't just washing the fabric before selling it. Industrial pre-shrinking uses controlled mechanical compression, steam, and tension release to simulate the stress of multiple wash cycles. The fabric contracts to near its natural relaxed state before it's ever cut into pattern pieces.

The most common pre-shrinking method is Sanforizing (a patented process), though other compressive shrinkage techniques exist. The goal is the same: ensure the garment you buy is already at or near its final dimensions.

Without pre-shrinking, a 100% cotton t-shirt can shrink 5–8% in length and 3–5% in width after the first wash. That's the difference between a comfortable fit and a too-tight disappointment.

## Why It Matters

### How pre-shrinking protects your purchase.

Buy your size. Keep your size.

- **Accurate Sizing** — Pre-shrunk garments match their size chart after washing. No guesswork, no sizing up 'just in case.'
- **Reduced Returns** — The most common reason for clothing returns is fit after washing. Pre-shrinking eliminates this problem entirely.
- **Shape Integrity** — Pre-shrinking ensures the garment shrinks uniformly during treatment, not unevenly in your home washing machine.

## Our Standard

### Every garment, pre-shrunk at origin.

Our fabric undergoes compressive shrinkage treatment at our Bhiwandi facility before cutting. We don't rely on post-sew washing — we treat the fabric itself, ensuring every cut piece starts from a dimensionally stable base. Residual shrinkage: under 3%.

- **<3%** Residual Shrinkage — Guaranteed across all sizes and colours

## Pre-shrunk — your questions, answered.

Understanding pre-shrinkage treatment.

**If it's pre-shrunk, will it shrink at all?**

Less than 3%. On a medium t-shirt, that's roughly 1cm in length — imperceptible in wear. After the first wash, dimensions stabilise completely.

**Does pre-shrinking affect fabric quality?**

No. Compressive pre-shrinking is a mechanical process, not a chemical one. It doesn't alter the fibre structure, colour, or hand feel.

**Why don't all brands pre-shrink?**

It adds cost and a manufacturing step. Some brands skip it and advise customers to 'size up' instead — pushing the problem onto the buyer.

**Should I still wash cold to prevent shrinkage?**

Cold washing is gentler on all fabrics, but even with warm washing, our pre-shrunk garments stay within the 3% tolerance.
