Both technologies target bacteria specifically. Neither one absorbs sweat, cools your skin, or changes how much you perspire. If a tag implies the fabric will keep you dry, that is a separate claim about moisture-wicking, not odour control, and the two should not be conflated.

Independent textile lab tests, most following the AATCC 100 standard used widely in the industry, generally show antimicrobial-treated fabric reducing bacterial colony counts by 90 percent or more compared to untreated fabric immediately after treatment. That is a real and significant reduction.

Whatever antimicrobial finish a tee arrives with, how you wash it determines how long that finish, and the fabric underneath it, actually lasts. A few habits protect both.
